Boosting Your Self-Empowerment During Tough Times

Think of some of the most confident, self-empowered people you know – you may feel like nothing could ever bring them down. They always seem to be riding the high of confidence, finding happiness and success at every turn. Everything they do seems to result in excellence and good fortune.

However, it’s important to remember that everyone – including those super-confident folks you admire – will experience hardship from time to time. It’s normal and natural to feel dips in your confidence and self-empowerment, especially when facing a problem.

When your self-empowerment is feeling low, you can take action to boost it again.

What are some strategies for boosting self-empowerment when you’re experiencing a tough time?

Times of trouble and hardship are when you need self-empowerment the most. Experiencing those tough times can also cause your self-empowerment to feel deflated. Consider the following strategies to boost your self-empowerment during times like these:

  1. Make sure you’re giving yourself plenty of opportunities to rest during a tough time.

When you’re experiencing a tough time, rest may be the last thing on your mind, but you must get some. Take time to get some sleep, or at the very least, enjoy some alone time away from others. Taking a little time to let yourself recharge ensures that you’ll have enough energy to call upon your self-empowerment when it’s needed.

  1. Allow yourself to focus on one task at a time.

Life can feel like a whirlwind of things that need your attention during a hardship. Instead of letting yourself get swept away by a never-ending and demanding list of things you need to do, force yourself to focus on one task at a time. Doing this can make your to-do list feel a lot less daunting.

When your self-empowerment and confidence might feel low, focusing on one task at a time can make you feel confident that you’re giving everything you need to do an appropriate amount of care and attention to detail.

  1. Surround yourself with supportive, positive people.

It’s tough to go through hardship alone. Some people believe that isolating themselves completely when they’re experiencing difficulty is the best option – and while some alone time is an excellent way to rest and recharge, it isn’t an ideal solution to handle hardship long term.

Rather than isolating yourself, try to reach out to your support system. Let the people you trust most know you’re going through tough times. Their support and positivity will work wonders for restoring your self-empowerment.

  1. Take time to engage in activities you enjoy.

When you can step away from your hardship, spend some of your time engaging in activities you enjoy. Read a good book, go on a long walk outdoors, watch some of your favourite TV shows, or play with your pets.

Spending time getting lost in some of your favourites, most enjoyable activities is an excellent way to boost your self-empowerment during hardship. Think of these mini breaks as an opportunity to give your self-empowerment muscles a break.

While you refill your happiness levels by engaging in an activity you enjoy, you can take your mind away from the hardship for a little while. This gives you a chance to rest, refocus, and recharge yourself so you’ll feel ready to face the difficulty again later.
